Kenya Forest Service is a corporate body established under the Forest Conservation and Management Act no 34 of 2016 (henceforth referred to as the Act). The Act which was operationalized on 31st March 2017, gave the Service’s mandate as “to provide for the development and sustainable management, including conservation and rational utilization of all forest resources for the socioeconomic development of the country and for connected purposes”.
Entry Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS and Remote Sensing or Geo-informatics, Geography and Environmental Studies, Environmental planning and Management, Natural Resource Management or any other related field from a recognized University.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS, ArcMap, PostGIS, QGIS, R studio to Microsoft Office, Computer Assisted Drawings (CAD), ERDAS, IDRIS
- Relevant work experience of at least three (3) years
- Proficiency in Computer applications
- Fulfils chapter six of the constitution

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receiving, checking, processing, documenting of forestry Geo-Spatial records from public and private producers.
- Development of databases
- Update of forest resources tabular databases
- Maintenance of non-geospatial database(s) within KFS
- Produce data reports and data mining queries
- Prepare forest resource datasets to support annual work plans and annual reports
- Plan, design, and automate GIS database construction and quality controls.
- Manage data development and access with other user departments.
- Protect the safety, integrity, and privacy of data.
