PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
• Medium Term Planning (MTP). Produce schedules, production forecasts and budget for the underground mine to meet budget physicals in a manner consistent with Company’s Vision and Values.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Degree in Mining Engineering or relevant discipline, possession of relevant Professional Certification or Licenses
EXPERIENCE:
• At least 5 years’ operational experience in an underground mine planning or related activities.
• Experience with developing and optimize mine plans Including short term and medium-term planning.
• Experience in mine planning, underground drill, and blast and underground mine ventilation.
• Experience working with geological models.
• Knowledge of mine ventilation systems and their integration into Mine plans.
• Experience on mine design and scheduling software10.Studio UG, EPS, MSO, Deswik, Vulcan, Ventis, Aegies.
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Support systems within the Mine Planning Department which deliver mine schedule for execution and maximize the value of the underground orebody.
• Under direction of the Senior Mining Engineer, deliver physicals schedule and the underground mine with accuracy commensurate with the confidence of the reserve or resource for the full asset life.
• Comply with, and provide input into, systems for the scheduling department work, to provide effective planning of work, efficient and safe work practices, and monitoring of work practices.
• Develop and maintain constructive relationships with colleagues, business partners, and other stakeholders, utilizing these relationships to successfully resolve issues if, or when, they arise.
• Develop detailed short-term mine plans based on long-term mine designs and production targets.
• Design stopes for ore extraction, incorporating factors such as ore quality, geotechnical considerations, and equipment capabilities.
• Schedule stopping activities to meet production targets and optimize resource utilization.
• Work within budgetary constraints, ensuring that short-term plans are cost-effective and align with financial objectives.
• Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting key performance indicators and proposing adjustments as necessary.
• Work closely with geotechnical engineers and long-term mining engineers to incorporate geotechnical considerations and engineering constraints into short-term plans.
• Provide a safe work environment, comply with SHE&C plans and procedures, management systems and processes within the Mine Planning team.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Good communication skills (MS Excels, MS world)
• Good report writing skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• A wide Broad range of technical skills relevant to large scale bulk and semi selective underground mining.
• Sound understanding of the mining value and risk drivers in the business unit.
