Job description

Responsibilities
1. Interpret Wildlife Discovery Centre displays and exhibits for visitors and answer any questions posed.
2. Demonstrate how interactivities work and encourage exploration of the Discovery Tables.

. Give short presentations interpreting items of special interest, providing well-informed narratives and interesting comparisons as visitors handle and explore natural artefacts.
4. Support with the setup and facilitation of education activities within the Wildlife Discovery Centre to engage local and international children visiting with their families.
This may include: –
-Setting up and manning an Activity Table with conservation-themed arts and crafts, games and worksheets
-Creating checklists, worksheets, scavenger hunts and quizzes for children to complete as they explore the facility.

5. Assist the Education Ranger with the facilitation of Discovery Days, Holiday Club, Birthday Parties, Theme Days and other events. This may include:
-Lesson/Activity planning
-Setting up the learning space
-Assisting the children in completing tasks
-Handing out worksheets
-Recording data
-Taking photos and videos
-Tidying-up and stock take
6. Assist with the Elephant Viewing Hide presentation by answering questions, passing
around props, being able to identify individual elephant orphans, and reminding
visitors to be quiet.
7. Impart visitor information as needed, ensuring all visitors have a safe, informed and
enjoyable experience at the Wildlife Discovery Centre.

8. Assist with off-site fundraising events as required.

Requirements and Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree/ diploma in Tourism and Hospitality, Education or any related field.
– Knowledge of wildlife conservation will be an added advantage.

3. WDC Facility Manager – Theo Olivier

Working conditions
– Based at the Wildlife Discovery Centre in Lusaka National Park, basic camp living –
safari tent, communal kitchen, living areas and bathrooms.
– 3x meals per day provided.
– Return transport to Lusaka National Park from the designated WDC bus route.
– 21/7 Working Rotation. Working hours will be flexible but are based on achieving 8
