Job description

Ujamaa Pamodzi Africa is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Finance Officer to play a vital role in supporting our finance department. As a Finance Officer, you will ensure the financial health of the organization.

This position will support the Finance department’s management of accounting systems, policies, and procedures in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), donor rules and regulations, and legal requirements to support high-quality programs serving the vulnerable.

As part of an experienced finance team, you will help coordinate daily financial activities through the duties outlined below

Duties and Responsibilities:

•        Check payment requests for accuracy and corrections before approval.

•        Prepare payment vouchers in accordance with the operational procedures.

•        Participate in development of annual work plans and budgets for projects.

•        Review all liquidations for accuracy.

•        Maintain project financial files for audit readiness.

•        Budgeting and forecasting and financial reporting

•        Preparation of donor funding requests

•        Ensure compliance with donor regulations and restrictions on funds received

•        Assist Finance Manager in ensuring strong internal controls are maintained in finance and operations functions.

•        Staff training on financial procedures and requirements

•        Preparation for audits

•        Perform other finance duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned.

Qualifications & Job Experiences:

•        Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Finance, with knowledge managing donors funds (preferably UNICEF, USAID and other UN agencies)

•        A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting or related field from a well-recognised University.

•        Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures in an NGO setting

•        Knowledge of MS Excel and ERP accounting systems
