The Jasiri program manager provides technical guidance on the program intervention and strategies and ensures the planned interventions are evidence-based, align with best practices and contribute to the goals of the Jasiri Program and the Young Africa Works Strategy.

The Jasiri program manager will manage the day-to-day running of project activities, ensuring adherence to project goals, objectives, and timelines and will be the secretary to the Jasiri Program PSC. They will directly report to CREAW with dotted reporting lines to the Jasiri Consortium Program Steering Committee.

The Program manager will carry out the following roles:

  • Program Coordination and management: Coordinate the implementation of the program interventions and ensure effective collaboration, communication, and coordination between CREAW, the Mastercard Foundation, all sub-awardees and program stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight of the consortium program management, ensuring that activities are implemented according to the project plan, budget, and timeline.
  • Oversee activity deliverables, including ensuring report preparation and high-quality timely submission, and ensuring cross-cutting issues are effectively integrated into activity implementation.
  • Provide oversight of program finances, including budget development, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting. Ensure efficient and accountable use of program resources.
  • Lead preparation and consolidation of annual work plans, activity updates, activity-related communication materials and consolidate partner progress reports.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Provide leadership to Jasiri consortium technical teams (program, finance, and operational staff) in the implementation of the program.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Oversee building and maintaining of strong relationships with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, community organisations, and other key actors relevant to the program. Foster collaboration and partnerships to enhance program outcomes.
  • Compliance: Oversee Jasiri consortium compliance with the Mastercard Foundation charitable purposes, rules and regulations, as per specific contractual requirements. Ensuring adherence to ethical and legal standards, including safeguarding policies, gender equity, and anti-fraud and anti-corruption policies.
  • Program Learning and Knowledge Management: Oversee learning and adaptation, monitoring and evaluation of program performance, consolidate data and feedback from consortium partners and diverse stakeholders (program participants, partner organizations, government agencies etc.) to inform the learning agenda and guide strategic decisions and adjustments to program implementation.
  • Risk Management and Mitigation: Oversee and coordinate mitigation of identified, emerging and potential risks that may impact implementation.
  • Capacity Building: Oversee implementation of capacity strengthening plans within the consortium program teams and partner organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Program Manager must have a combination of relevant education, experience, and skills.

  • Education: Master’s degree in gender and development studies, social sciences, project management or a related field) is required. A combination of relevant education and extensive experience is desired.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in managing and implementing development programs, including commitment and experience in addressing gender- based violence, women’s rights, or related areas. Demonstrated experience in working with young people and managing consortiums is highly desirable.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills, including communication, planning, coordination, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting. Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Leadership Abilities: Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team and foster collaboration and teamwork.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge and expertise in gender and women rights, women and girls empowerment, GBV prevention and response strategies, including understanding of best practices, evidence-based interventions and working with diverse stakeholders (Government, community based organizations, private sector etc. )
