Roles and responsibility
- Provide 24-hour psychosocial counseling to shelter clients
- Administration of drugs to clients
- Accompany client to clinics, court, social welfare department, police stations and other stakeholders as may be required
- Check on client’s welfare on a daily basis and record the mood of each client daily.
- Handovers of client daily observation report.
- Do not cause harm to any client.
- Ensure that clients do not harm each other.
- Provide routine counseling for each client as and when needed.
- Ensure that clients are kept acYoung Women’s Christian Associationtive in the shelter by engaging them in various activities.
- Ensure that all clients have their accessories securely kept upon entry into the shelter and given back upon discharge from the shelter
- Abide by the Code of Conduct and ethics of counselling provided by the organization.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Desired Qualifications:
- Diploma in Psychosocial Counselling – Degree will be an added advantage
- Practical experience in Gender, human rights and development contexts
- At least three (3) years of experience working in a related field
- Experience in working with CSOs/NGOs
- Fluency in written and spoken English and a local language widely spoken in the district of assignment
- Experience working for an international non-government organization is an advantage
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- A strong candidate able to meet planned objectives and targets
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
