Job description

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure business compliance with Company accounting and administrative policies and practziices, in conformance with legislation and generally accepted accounting practice.
  • Responsible for ensuring full compliance with Accounting Policies, IFRS, and Local Accounting Rules and Company Law.
  • Establish finance as a true ‘business partner, integrate finance across the matrix in the business and provide real value through the provision of quality, timely and accurate information, and analysis, highlighting issues and trends.
  • Compliance with Tax regulation
  • Responsible for ensuring full compliance with country tax regulations
  • Treasury and Banking
  • Management of the country treasury and banking function within Group policy
  • Cash Flow and Working Capital Management
  • Driving cashflow and working capital improvement and managing the   integrity of the balance sheet including debtor days and days payables.
  • Be accountable for the implementation of group cash management policies in the country
  • Managing Internal Controls and the Divisional Balance Sheet
  • Ensuring that internal controls are in place and are constantly monitored.
  • Ensure efficient process flows are installed throughout the Organisation.
  • Ensure the business’s systems are robust, compliant and support business activities and future growth.
  • Ensure the integrity of the divisional balance sheet and the associated control and reconciliation processes
  • Managing the Budgeting, Forecasting and Year End Processes
  • Analyse and report on the monthly business performance and ensure accurate, timeous and relevant financial reports are provided to the divisional management team and board to optimise the management of the business units.
  • Prepare and present monthly and full year forecast figures.
  • Plan and manage the preparation of the annual divisional budget and present to group management.
  • Plan and manage the financial year end, audit and associated processes annually.
  • Managing Team
  • Effective management of subordinate personnel in terms of:
    • Performance Assessment
    • Skills Development
    • Career path planning
  • Managing stakeholders
  • Ensure a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties, customers, and advisors on commercial matters.
  • Commercial Management
  • Take responsibility for overall commercial results of the division including responsibility for ensuring:
    • the achievement of targeted margins by the division,
    • the optimisation of under-performing contracts and business units
    • sales proposals are modelled and presented with mandated margins and returns
    • commercial reporting prepared monthly, is accurate and reflects the results of the business units and is utilised to optimise the commercial outcomes
Skills and Competencies
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience post qualification with at least 5 years in a senior financial and commercial management position in a corporate environment.
  • Experience in people intensive service industries (in particular the catering industry) will be an advantage.
  • Exposure and sound understanding of Facilities management operational requirements will be an advantage.
  • Financial Management experience in Zimbabwe including:
    • banking systems and relationships
    • tax and other regulatory issues
    • insurance and risk management
    • reporting and control responsibility
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Experience of overall responsibility for governance and control environment for a large corporate
  • Excellent problem solving skills and experience
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Strong commercial skills and experience
  • Experience negotiating with customers and suppliers
  • Experience of interactions with boards
  • Well-developed Financial forecasting and modelling skills
  • Cash management and working capital optimisation experience
