The School Nurse will play a crucial role in promoting student health and well-being, providing medical care and support in a school setting. This position requires a deep commitment to the health and safety of students, as well as collaboration with educators, administrators, and families.
Key Responsibilities:
Health Services:
• Provide direct care to students and staff, including first aid, medication administration etc
• Maintain accurate health records for students and ensure confidentiality.
Health Education:
• Develop and implement health education programs and materials
Emergency Response:
• Act as the first responder to medical emergencies and provide appropriate care.
• Develop and implement emergency health care plans for students with specific medical needs.
• Conduct regular emergency preparedness drills in collaboration with school administration.
Health Environment:
Ensure the school environment is safe and healthy by monitoring sanitation, air quality, and safety hazards.
Collaborate with school staff to promote a healthy and safe school environment.
Liaison and Collaboration:
• Serve as a liaison between the relevant stakeholders and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
Record Keeping and Compliance:
• Maintain up-to-date health records and ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Prepare and submit necessary health reports to as and when required.
Qualification Required & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent from an accredited nursing training school with an active licensure as a registered state nurse
• Minimum of two years of relevant experience as a nurse in a pediatric/adolescent healthcare setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to remain calm and respond efficiently in medical emergencies.
