Objective of the Assignment
The key objective of the assignment is to support the section to implement selected pieces of ongoing social protection research/impact evaluations and translation of evidence into practice.
The intern will specifically be required to do the following:
- Support the implementation of the LEAP+ISS midline study.
- Support the development of policy documents/briefs based on the final midline report.
- Support the review of selected research products/studies/monitoring report.
- Support the dissemination of evidence and its utilization (development of impact action plans and implementation strategies based on research/studies recommendations).
- Support knowledge management functions of the section including communication and visibility.
Tasks to be competed.
The intern will undertake the following activities:
- Support the section in implementing the LEAP+ISS midline study.
- Support the unit to review and provide inputs into research products. This will involve participating in review meetings with relevant research institutions as required.
- Support the unit to develop policy briefs based on selected research products working in collaboration with a designer and the communication unit for the layout and design of the policy briefs.
- Support the organization of 3 dissemination events on the results of three research products.
- Working in collaboration with communication unit, support the generation of human-interest stories relating to the section’s work as well as enhancing visibility of the section’s interventions.
- Support the analysis of news items/latest reports on policy, PFM and social protection.
Expected Deliverables
The intern is expected to submit the following deliverables:
- Four draft social protection reports reviewed, and inputs provided.
- The development, finalization, design, and printing of 3 policy documents supported.
- Three dissemination events supported.
- Three impact action plans developed based on recommendations from studies/research reports and submitted.
- Four human interest stories generated and disseminated through relevant channels.
- A note on mechanisms for enhancing the section’s visibility produced and submitted.
- A weekly report submitted on new reports and news items relating to the sector.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Proof of enrolment in an under-graduate or advanced programme in a Reference letter from school confirming student requires internship. OR
- Up-to date university transcript or Statement of result/certificate evidencing completion of a degree within the last two years (if applicable).
- Academic background in Social Sciences, particularly Sociology, Social Work, Human Rights, International Relations, International Development, Gender or related areas
- Demonstrated ability in research, report analysis and synthesis of key findings.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) and/or local language(s) is an asset.
