Are you an experienced and dedicated healthcare professional with a passion for surgical excellence? Veteran Mission Hospital in Syokimau, Nairobi, is seeking a competent and highly motivated Operating Theatre Manager to oversee and manage our operating theatre services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and manage the operations of the operating theatre to ensure the highest standards of care and safety.
  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient scheduling and utilization of the operating theatre.
  • Supervise and support the operating theatre team, including nurses, technicians, and support staff.
  • Ensure that all surgical procedures are conducted in compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and manage the inventory of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring timely maintenance and replacement.
  • Oversee the sterilization and infection control processes to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
  • Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular training and development sessions for the operating theatre staff to keep them updated on best practices and new technologies.
  • Prepare and manage the operating theatre budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures, staff activities, and inventory.
  • Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to the operating theatre promptly and effectively.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss and plan patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Higher Diploma in Theatre Nursing, Diploma in Theatre Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an operating theatre environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, operating theatre equipment, and infection control practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in using healthcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement.
