The Mater Hospital was opened in 1962 by the Sisters of Mercy, a Catholic Order of Nuns originating from Ireland, three years after registering themselves as the Registered Trustees of an entity under the Perpetual Succession Act (the succeeding legislation after independence).
Main Duties
- Coordinating clinical presentations to assist students achieve critical thinking
- Preparing and implementing new students’ orientation program, to ensure quick settlement at the school and clinic
- Following students in clinical placements both internal and external
- Planning for and conducting theoretical and practical assessments for students.
- Assessing practical books regularly to establish the level of proficiency attained by the students in conducting procedures
- Produce and distribute course learning objectives as well as student’s schedule to the clinical facilities prior to student attendance at the facility
- Designing master rotations, assessment schedules or any other teaching and learning tool
- Communicating with the nursing department as necessary to resolve issues or concerns in the clinical areas
- Collaborating with colleagues to revise and evaluate course content and learning outcomes
- Discussing with students their concerns and/or problems directly or indirectly related to the learning experience
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required
- Any other duty assigned
Required Qualifications for the Position
- KRN/KRM/KRN/M/KRCHN/BSCN
- Computer Proficiency
- Minimum 2 years of active classroom and clinical teaching in Nursing/Midwifery practice
- Registered with NCK with a valid practicing license
- Persons with specialization in KRCCN, KRNN, KRPON have an added advantage
