- To manage Process Operations and Plant Specific Training programs and activities.
- To coach and conduct Circuit training for both new and existing Process Plant Operators to drive plant utilization.
- To conduct induction training for new employees, contractors and as will be required for shutdowns in accordance with approved curriculum, relevant regulations and best practices.
In This Role You Will:
Information Management and Management Reporting
- Manage the Process Operations department and other business partners.
- Prepare monthly training schedules and report to the Coordinator.
- Send training and assessment reports on the training results to the client.
- Upload assessments results onto Success Factors.
- Scan and store a copy of the attendance sheet electronically and file hard copies of the assessment tool and attendance sheet.
Planning
- Draw up the monthly plan to assign the trainees to the training date verifying that reminders are given until the day of the training.
Staff Supervision
- Assign daily activity to Trainees who report directly to the position.
- Coach, develop and supervise employees reporting to this position.
- Review the performance of trainees.
Training and Assessments
- Manage Process Operations Training.
- Compile the training pack (training session plan and registration of the training).
- Review training materials.
- Prepare the presentation slides, assessment tools, attendance and evaluation forms.
- Conduct Circuit trainings and assessment for all Plant Operators i.e. Crushing to Tailings
- Conduct practical sessions of trainings that require practical.
- Support the conduct of training & assessment for all Mandatory programs required by employees and contractors.
- Conduct practical assessments and Standard Task Procedures (STP) assessment for specific tasks.
- Conduct induction training.
- Lead the roll out and conduct of Planned Task Observation program to continually identify operational skill gaps among the operators.
- Conduct Control Room Operations training for Process Plant & Crusher Control Room Operators.
- Design and conduct Process Control training programs for Plant Operators & Plant metallurgical personnel.
- Conduct Overhead Crane Operation (Theorical & Practical) training and assessment for Process Plant personnel.
- Conduct Rock Breaker Operation (Theorical & Practical) training and assessment for Crusher personnel.
- Conduct Forklift, Telehandler and Loader Operation training and assessment for Equipment Operators.
- Support the design and implementation of Process Plant & Crusher Shutdown trainings for all contractors.
Process Learnership Program
- Manage the Learnership Training Program in the area of:
- Applicants selection and recruitment.
- Training material acquisition, review and development to maximise output to guarantee quality and timely training support delivery.
- Conduct training needs analysis and develop training plans for Learnership training program.
- Conduct assessment and testing as detailed in curriculum, including aptitude tests.
- Conduct Forklift, Telehandler and Loader Operation training and assessment for Learners.
- Develop training simulations and aids.
- Develop Learners for shutdown support activities.
- Monitor and track progress of Learners and provide coaching and instruction as required.
- Apply vocational guidance and counselling as needed.
- Model and promote expected behaviours, with emphasis on desired values, safe work practice, punctuality, efficiency and quality of work.
- Seek job placement for Learners before graduation.
Your Training, Skills and Experience Checklist:
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
- Degree/Diploma in Minerals / Metallurgical Engineering.
- Workplace trainer and Assessor Certificate.
- Mincom Competency Certificate – Process/Metallurgical Officer.
Additional Knowledge:
- A working knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures.
Experience:
- Between 5 to 7 years relevant working experience.
- Training experience in mining industry.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to plan and deliver process training activities.
- Coaching skills.
- Strong training, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
