Main Purpose of the Job
- The Researcher will Execute and implement R&D projects under the direction and guidance of the Senior Researcher and Lead Researcher.
Duties & Responsibilities
Research and development
- Execute R&D project process within scientific discipline:
- Interface with individuals within the organisation and consult with external parties (external project team members, peer researchers in international networks etc) as and when required during project lifetime
- Adhere to professional standards and ethics, and comply with applicable rules, regulations and standards in conducting research and development
- Prepare reports and exposé on project progress and results for presentation to Project Director (Lead Researcher) on a regular basis and to the Project Reference Group at agreed milestones
- Modify projects based on changes proposed by Lead / Senior Researchers and Project Reference Group
- Prepare technology transfer package
- Keep detailed R&D documentation, logbooks and records
Requirements
PhD or Masters pursuing a doctoral programme in engineering or science or related field from a recognised institution or any other equivalent qualification acceptable to BITRI.
Experience and working knowledge:
8 years of research experience in a research environment
Technical competences
- Knowledge of R&D practices, principles, processes, procedures etc.
- Understanding of the research agenda of BITRI and its potential applications in Botswana
- Good understanding of international perspectives gained either through working overseas or working for an internationally focused R&D organisation in Botswana or through regular participation in international conferences on R&D
- Computer literate. Experience with systems and applications relevant to the specific work area
