Job description

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Officer with in-depth knowledge of freight handling and clearing processes.
  • The Logistics Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods and materials, as well as the clearance of shipments through customs.
  • This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of logistics operations within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities
Freight Handling:

  • Coordinate and manage the transportation of goods and materials to destinations, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Select appropriate transportation methods (road, rail, sea, air) based on project requirements and cost considerations.
  • Negotiate and secure transportation contracts with carriers and freight forwarders.
  • Monitor shipment progress and resolve any transportation-related issues promptly.

Customs Clearance:

  • Prepare and submit all necessary documentation for customs clearance.
  • Liaise with customs authorized Agents to ensure compliance with import/export regulations and resolve any customs-related issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs laws and regulations.

Supplier and Vendor Coordination:

  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure accurate and timely delivery of materials.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any quality or delivery issues.

Cost Management:

  • Work closely with the finance department to track and control logistics-related expenses.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-reduction strategies.

Reporting:

  • Prepare regular reports on logistics activities, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and cost analysis.
  • Provide management with insights and recommendations for process improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Logistics Officer or similar role in the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of freight handling, transportation, and customs clearance processes.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suit
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to logistics and customs procedures.
