The main purpose of this role is to provide multidisciplinary engineering and operations to skills to ensure general maintenance within specific unit of responsibility within prescribed guidelines.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE
- Perform non-specialized maintenance within the assigned unit.
- Coach and develop engineering skills of maintenance and operational staff.
- Recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) activities, adhering to Engineering and SHE Policies and Standards.
- Diagnose and resolve problems to optimize production output, and carry out plant repairs with the team.
- Maintain service levels by effectively performing breakdown, preventative, and predictive maintenance.
- Analyze breakdowns, comply with Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) requirements, and implement continuous improvements to reduce breakdowns.
- Contribute to strategic engineering plans for maintenance and breakdown reduction (RCM).
- Identify major engineering losses and investigate using Kaizen problem-solving methods (e.g., Fishbone, 5 Whys).
- Integrate work orders into Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) like SAP.
- Ensure adherence to company safety rules and maintain Unilever safety and 5S standards.
- Develop and coach engineering skills using One Point Lessons (OPL) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Experiences & Qualifications
- Trade Test Mechanical/ Electrical /Instrumental/ Millwright
- Minimum N3 Engineering qualification
- Experience on high speed packing lines
- 3 years Millwright experience in FMCG and Manufacturing
- Experience in a process plant with a working knowledge of valves and pumps
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be flexible within pattern of shift work to accommodate factory shutdowns, training courses etc. and emergency cover
Skills
- Problem-Solving and Fault Diagnosis: Ability to diagnose and interpret problems to optimize production output and carry out plant repairs.
- Maintenance and Repair: Proficiency in performing breakdown, preventative, and predictive maintenance to ensure service levels are maintained.
- Continuous Improvement: Experience with continuous improvement methodologies, such as Kaizen, to identify and address engineering losses.
- Coaching and Development: Skills in coaching and developing the engineering abilities of maintenance and operational staff.
