Key Functions and Accountabilities:
1 Manage the overall management and implementation of the Making Migration Safe for Women (MMSfW) programme
- Prepare annual workplans and budgets and manage their implementation;
- Manage the technical implementation of the programme; provide technical advice; ensure synergies with other teams;
- Review the submission of implementing partner financial and narrative reports as required;
- Provide guidance to staff and partners on Results Based Management tools and performance indicators;
- Lead Project Steering Committee, project review and/or evaluation meetings.
2 Oversee technical assistance and capacity development to programme partners
- Provide technical advice to partners; oversee the provision of technical guidance by the team;
- Build, manage, and expand relationships with national partners to support implementation and expansion of the MMSfW programme; respond to any potential problems;
- Serve as an expert resource to partners on UN Women’s work gender and migration;
- Implement and oversee capacity building opportunities and initiatives;
- Provide partners with advanced technical assistance, training and capacity development initiatives.
3 Manage the monitoring and reporting of the MMSfW programme
- Manage the process of monitoring the programme implementation of activities and finances using results-based management tools;
- Finalize quarterly reports and donor reports, focusing on results, output and outcomes;
- Write office donor and UN Women reports.
4 Manage the people and financial resources of the MMSfW programme
- Manage the programme budget and finalize financial reports;
- Manage the South Africa and Ethiopia National Coordinators, the Policy Specialist, Gender and Migration and the Knowledge Management Specialist, Gender and Migration; mentor and coach staff and conduct performance assessments;
- Oversee recruitment processes, as necessary.
5 Build partnerships and lead in developing resource mobilization strategies
- Develop and implement partnerships and resource mobilization strategies;
- Liaise, interact and negotiate with current and potential donors;
- Finalize relevant documentation on donors and develop potential opportunities for resource mobilization;
- Analyze and research information on donors, finalize substantive briefs on possible areas of cooperation, identification of opportunities for cost sharing.
6 Lead advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts
- Represent UN Women in meetings and policy dialogues on issues related to migration, including as a member of the UN Network on Migration
- Manage advocacy strategies and their implementation;
- Identify best practices and lessons learned to guide programme improvement and strategy planning;
- Lead the development of knowledge management strategies and methodologies and products on gender and migration.
7 The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation.

Recruitment Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, migration studies, development studies, gender/women’s studies or a related technical field is required
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) would be an added advantage.
Experience:
- At least 7 years progressively responsible experience in gender equality, women’s economic empowerment and migration
- Experience in managing global programmes, mobilizing resources, and conducting policy research and analysis related to gender-responsive migration is required
- Experience in contributing to normative and intergovernmental processes related to gender equality and migration, such as CSW; Human Rights Council; Global Forum on Migration and Development; and CEDAW, Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families (CMW) and other human rights treaty bodies, is required.
- Experience in organizing stakeholder consultations, expert group meetings, workshops and side events is required
- Experience in leading/managing a team is required
- Experience working in the UN system highly desirable
