The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:
• Drive and operate loader efficiently and with due care of equipment.
• Inspect working areas and make safe prior to entry of personnel and ensure that ventilation/other safety requirements are in compliance with Mining, explosives and domestic regulations.
• Carry out pre-shift checks on the loader, rectify minor defects and report major ones to maintenance personnel.
• Supervise subordinates involved in barring, watering and blasting activities. Sometimes conduct secondary blasting.
• Discriminate high-grade Ore from dilute Ore/Waste, inform Draw Control Officer on declining quality in a “call” stope and relocate to new work site.
• Solve work related problems (e.g. source for ore when ground runs out in a “call” stope, look for replacement loader when loader in use is defective) and refer to superior only major problems (such as inaccessibility of production ore due to major stress)
To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
• Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
• Should have Valid Driving permit
• Valid Blasting license for all mining operations.
• Valid first aid certificate.
• Should have comprehensive knowledge in the Mine Regulations.
• Must have worked not less than 2 years’ experience in the mining industry preferably underground.
The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and Corporate objectives.
