The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:
• Interpret and prepare the prescription and dispenses the drugs and surgical to the patient.
• Provide drug information to patients and clinicians and ensures effective counselling for the patients during dispensing.
• Maintain stock control records of all drugs and surgical received/issued and ensures safe custody of pharmaceutical products.
• Raise requisitions for ordering the drugs and surgical from the hospital stores to maintain optimum stock levels of medicines to avoid over stocking and stock outs.
• Ensure optimum utilisation of the existing hospital Information Management System, including Pro-Clin by providing real time billing of all dispensed drugs and surgical.
• Conduct monthly wall to wall stock counts to ensure accountability of all drugs and surgical in the Pharmacy and avoid expiries.
• Ensure all drugs and surgical are stored according to the recommended storage conditions e.g., temperature monitoring, FEFO (first to expire first out) and FIFO (first in first out) etc.
• Ensure Health, Safety and Environment Standards/ Policy Awareness and Practice in the Section to ensure compliance.
To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Diploma in Pharmacy Technology.
• Duly and Fully Registered with the Health Professional Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
• Good Problem-solving skills.
The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and Corporate objectives.
