Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Consolidation:
- Prepare and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements of MTN Eswatini and its subsidiaries in compliance with IFRS and MTN Group standards.
- Consolidate financial results of MTN Eswatini and subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage the monthly reporting process to MTN Group, ensuring all deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
- Coordinate with auditors for the statutory audit process, ensuring timely and unqualified audit opinions.
Treasury and Cash Management:
- Oversee all treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and optimization of working capital.
- Manage relationships with financial institutions to ensure efficient banking operations and favorable terms for the company.
- Develop and implement cash management strategies to optimize the use of available funds and ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
- Monitor exchange rate exposures and implement hedging strategies to manage foreign currency risk.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Support the annual budgeting process by providing accurate financial data.
- Provide insights into financial performance and deviations from the budget and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and local statutory obligations.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting, and treasury functions.
- Liaise with the Tax function and regulatory authorities to ensure timely and accurate filing of returns and compliance with local tax regulations.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the financial accounting and treasury team, ensuring continuous development of skills and knowledge.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence within the team.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce manual work.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the primary point of contact for financial matters related to MTN Eswatini.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the Senior Manager – Financial Operations, senior management, and MTN Group on business performance, risk management, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment between financial goals and business strategies.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification or studying towards CA/ACCA/CIMA.
Experience:
- 3 – 5 years of experience in financial accounting and treasury roles, telecommunication and managerial experience shall be an added advantage.
- Strong experience in financial consolidation and group reporting.
- Knowledge of IFRS, treasury operations, and financial systems
