The job holder is responsible for repairs, maintenance, and service of geothermal/hydro/wind turbines and all the associated auxiliaries to sustain the operation of the power plant equipment. The job involves trouble shooting and ascertaining the causes of breakdowns and failures subsequently carrying out corrective and preventive actions.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Routine maintenance of power plant equipment, timely service, and repair of all auxiliary equipment for the efficient running of the plants.
• Attending to emergencies in respect of plant and machinery at any given time.
• Fabricating specific parts and components of plant and equipment.
• Operating plant equipment in times of emergencies
• Offering technical support in other power stations as per requests made.
• Repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment including the lathe machine, motor vehicles and accessories.
• Ensuring safe work procedures/instructions are adhered to.
• Participating in plant inspection, technical defect diagnosis, repairs, and testing.

Educational Requirements Job Experience/Qualifications

• O Level certificate with (minimum KCSE D+ (plus)) with Mathematics and Physics subjects.
• Craft certificate in mechanical engineering or equivalent from the national examining body (KNEC)
• Experience in a production or electricity generating environment is an added advantage.
• Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
