The school is looking to appoint an experienced Environmental Systems and Societies teacher who is
passionate about their students, their discipline and developing their pedagogical craft. At Waterford
Kamhlaba UWCSA, ESS is housed under the Science department, and the subject is offered at Higher Level
and Standard Level ESS in the IBDP Phase.

systems. The teachers within Science come from diverse backgrounds themselves, and are highly experienced
subject specialists who bring passion and energy to our classrooms. We are looking for someone to join this
team who possesses the ability to work under pressure, who has the flexibility and willingness to try out new
things and someone who enjoys working in teams.
The role commences on 1 January 2025 or 1 March 2025.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline related
Professional teaching qualification e.g. PGCE
At least 3 years teaching IBDP ESS or similar A’Level or AP courses
Experience teaching TOK would be an added advantage
Responsibilities
Teach ESS to students from diverse backgrounds, aged 16 – 20
Work with colleagues in the Science Department to continually improve and align pedagogical approaches
Contribute to student growth outside the classroom by supervising a community service activity, club
and/or an extra-curricular activity
Serve as Tutor to 12 students
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people at the College
