Responsibilities
• Provide technical support for the livelihoods skill-building and asset transfer components of the graduation approach
• Ensure cohesion across all components of the graduation approach in collaboration with the Graduation Approach Advisor
• Sequence, layer, and integrate interventions appropriately at all levels of implementation within the activity
• Develop and enhance sustainable livelihood skill-building programs, including on-farm, off-farm, and non-farm livelihoods
• Address environmental and cultural constraints (including social norms) to livelihoods strengthening and promote value addition and market systems development
• Work with the M&E team to ensure M&E and learning feedback loops are utilized by technical field staff
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, economics, international development, or relevant field is required; master’s degree is desired.
• Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience working in international development at the community level developing sustainable livelihood skill building programs, with preference for experience in graduation programming.
• In-depth understanding of livelihood development, including selection, planning, and management of micro- and small businesses.
• Experience with livelihood resilience and diversification strategies, market linkages, and private sector engagement.
• Demonstrated experience with value addition, market systems, and environmental and cultural constraints to livelihoods.
• Proven ability to work in dynamic and uncertain contexts characterized by drought, displacement, and insecurity.
• Experience working in Uganda preferred.
• Fluency in English is required.
