Responsibilities

Tasks to be performed under this contract
The consultancy service will entail the provision of the following services: 

An assessment of the existing mechanisms for providing orientation for labour migrants, including an identification of gaps, best practices and stakeholders engaged in providing for providing pre-departure and post-arrival orientation.  

Develop an outline for the drafting of the pre-departure and post-arrival orientation curriculum including a trainers’ manual for the delivery of an experiential and participatory pre-departure/post arrival orientation.

Submit a draft of a gender transformative orientation curriculum with a trainer’s manual for an effective orientation including a session on post-arrival psychosocial support.

  4. Participate in the validation of the orientation curriculum and trainer’s manual

Performance indicators for the evaluation of results
  1. Develop an inception report which includes comprehensive literature reviews, gender-sensitive methodology, and detailed work plan for the assignment. 
  2. Carry out an assessment of the existing mechanisms for providing orientation for labour migrants with a focus on identifying gaps, best practices and stakeholders involved. 
  3. Develop a draft orientation curriculum with a training manual for the review and validation by stakeholders.
  4. Validation meeting, consultancy report and two-pager brief.
     Qualifications

Education

A University degree in Development studies, Economics, International Relations, and Law 

Skills
  • Excellent oral and writing skills
  • Ability to conduct research, interpret information, identify and analyse problems and propose solutions.
  • Strong communication and negotiation capacities
  • Excellent organizational skills and be detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently as part of a team
  • Proven knowledge of the migration context in Ghana is an advantage
Experience
  • 4-5 years of experience in migration management, labour migration management or both in the West and Central Africa Region
  • Experiences in working with Ghanaian government actors and civil society in Accra
  • Demonstrated experiences in producing quality reports in the English language 
Languages
  • Fluency in English and any local language is preferred
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
