Main purpose of the job
This role will support the design, development, implementation and embedding of Tearfund’s Talent philosophy and strategy, through:
● Talent acquisition that meets Tearfund’s global business needs for the near, medium and longer term
● Talent development that releases the potential and develops the skills and knowledge of all our people to grow in their God-given potential.
● Developing a competency matrix that describes talent requirements for key job families at Tearfund and managing same with support from Head of Talent – and the People and Culture SMT
2. Position in organisation
● Line managed by Head of Talent (Interim by Head of OD & Culture)
● Interacts with leaders and managers to meet their talent needs
● Work closely with members of the People & Culture Group’s Senior Management Team
● Works closely with the L&D team

Tearfund’s talent development strategy to meet organisational business needs globally
● Communicate and engage leaders, people managers and staff with key talent messages in collaboration with the Internal Communications & Engagement Team

6. Duties and key responsibilities
Manage the development, implementation and monitoring of a global approach to talent acquisition in close partnership with HR and leaders globally:
● Manage Tearfund’s access to talent pools globally by implementing the talent strategy. Contribute to the design and implementation of career development strategies, tools and resources.
● Work in partnership with the Head of People to develop, implement and promote Tearfund’s employee value propositions, integrating EDI
● Contribute to identifying and building alliances with other Charities, networks to stay up to date with and sharing of best practices.
● Lead effective search and recruitment into senior and hard to fill roles across Tearfund
● Lead the team to operationalise our ability to reach and attract the talent needed through new media
channels, recruitment portals, relevant partnerships
● Support cross organisational opportunities for promoting secondments, internships and graduate
programmes as may be necessary for career development into key roles.
● Build alliances and network with others INGOs, networks and charities to help stay up to date with, and share best practice
● Maintain and update organisational knowledge on relevant theory and practice in talent acquisition and talent development, in order to maintain leading edge delivery, advice and expertise
● Implement consistent, best practice hiring policy and process and training for HR Business Partners and hiring managers in collaboration with People services and Learning and development team..
● As part of developing and managing the talent strategy, ensure that recruitment is aligned with Tearfund’s Christian distinctiveness and spiritual vitality strategy, and Tearfund’s Equity, Diversity & Inclusion strategy
● Advise Tearfund Groups on succession planning and retention strategies.
● Work in partnership with People and Culture SMT to identify and provide data and insights on the Talent
Forum elements of the Strategic People Reviews.
● Work closely with the Global Reward Manager to evaluate and measure the impact of Tearfund’s global reward strategy on attraction and retention
Work collaboratively with the people team and key stakeholders to develop/refresh and implement Tearfund’s talent development strategy to meet organisational business needs globally.
● Create strategies for the provision of global support to the key talent pool, working closely with People and Culture SMT, to ensure the active development and creation of succession opportunities for Tearfund
● Develop and manage the competency framework describing talent for key job families at Tearfund
● Leadership Development: Contribute to the design and delivery of relevant and inspiring leadership
programmes for Tearfund’s senior leaders, Team Leaders and emerging leaders
● Management development: Contribute to, the design and delivery of development opportunities to
strengthen line management performance
● Key talent development: In collaboration with Learning and Development, ensure members of the key talent pool have an active development pathway
● Contribute to the response and provision of resources for organisational capability development, personal effectiveness and team development
● Jointly work together with L&D to implement the growth of coaching and mentoring as a core element of a talent development strategy
● Provide data insight on the effectiveness of the Talent acquisition and development strategy
Communicate and engage leaders, people managers and staff with key talent messages in collaboration
with the Internal Communications & Engagement Team
● Ensure broad understanding and adoption of talent management by leaders and manager
Qualifications
Relevant level of experience in Talent acquisition, recruitment processes, Learning and Development or degree in similar field
Experience
Knowledge and experience of talent management best practice (both acquisition and development)
● Experience of operating in a global context
● Experience with TA search – channels/methods
● Senior recruitment execution
● Driving diversity and equity
● Managing search agencies
● Leveraging EVP
● Proven track record of delivering impactful talent programmes
● Proven experience of developing and implementing senior leadership & management development programmes/initiatives
● Demonstrable experience of influencing, managing and motivating a culturally diverse stakeholder community
● Operating in a management role across complex and fast-moving organisation
