Job description

The job holder will take end to end program ownership for the M-Pesa Africa Compliance Program by monitoring and reporting results of the compliance efforts of the business and in providing guidance for the senior management team on matters relating to compliance. The Job holder, together with the Risk and Compliance Director, is authorized to implement all necessary actions to ensure the achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program using a risk based approach. In addition to the above, they will ensure that M-Pesa Africa activities, products and services are compliant to regulations and policies across the M-Pesa markets.

Responsibilities

  • Hold extensive senior-level engagement with Policy and Compliance Champions (Nominated at functional level) and other key stakeholders throughout M-Pesa Africa and the local markets;
  • Apply strong change management and interpersonal skills to influence those Senior-level stakeholders to drive behavioral change in the area of compliance and continuous assurance and Controls monitoring,  in order to ensure MPESA Africa is operating a world-class compliance function;
  • Design, develop and implement Compliance Policies and Procedures;
  • Manage the Compliance and CACM programs;
  • Report on the state of M-PESA compliance with the control management and other policies and regulations governing the organization on a quarterly basis;
  • Deliver the M-Pesa Africa Compliance Program through leading and developing a team of Compliance Champions nominated from across the business;
  • The job holder will coordinate M-Pesa compliance best practice sharing across the various M-Pesa markets in Africa;
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Centre of Excellence across the different markets;
  • Conduct risk assessments on products and services rolled out by M-Pesa Africa.

Programs managed by the Senior Compliance Manager include, but are not limited to, Enterprise Risk Management, Ethics Management and Data Privacy.

Qualifications

  • A graduate  degree preferably in Business, Law, or IT;
  • Professional certification in Risk Management or related fields such as CISA,CPA, ACAMS (K) or equivalent;
  • At least 10 years of proven experience in Risk Analysis in a Financial Services environment;
  • Ability to analyze significant amounts of data and information and distill it to the key points in analyzing risks in a given situation;
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills;
  • High level experience and skills working with stakeholders;
  • Strong background in Auditing, Accounting or Legal.a
