The Plant Operator II (Machine Shop) is responsible for operating and maintaining machine shop equipment to support the manufacturing and production of high-quality vehicle components, ensuring precision, safety, and efficiency in line with organizational standards.
Key Functions
- Machine Operation: Operate various machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, bench grinders, and CNC machinery. Perform machine setup, calibration, and adjustments to meet production specifications. Ensure all machining processes adhere to design blueprints and technical requirements.
- Component Fabrication and Finishing: Perform cutting, shaping, and finishing of metal and other materials as required for vehicle components. Ensure precision and quality in the production of parts by adhering to measurements and tolerances. Conduct surface finishing tasks such as deburring, polishing, and cleaning of fabricated parts.
- Equipment Maintenance: Report any major breakdowns or mechanical issues to the Senior Production Engineer for prompt resolution.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect fabricated components to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications. Identify and address defects or inaccuracies in components and make necessary adjustments. Work closely with the quality control team to ensure continuous improvement in production processes.
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and procedures when operating machinery and handling tools. Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times to ensure safety in the workplace. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Material Management: Assist in managing raw materials, tools, and consumables for machine shop operations. Monitor material usage and report shortages or excesses to the supervisor.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, machine usage, and maintenance tasks. Provide regular reports on machine performance, output, and challenges encountered.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
Education Background
- National/Advanced/Craft Certificate in Machining and Fitting
- UVQF Level II/Trade Certificate in Machining and Fitting
- Related field
Experience
- Minimum of Two (2) years of experience in Machining and fitting practice in industrial settings.
