HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Development and Management of Projects and Programs (70%):
- Participate in the development of the implementation plan of the Voluntary Cooperation Program (VCP) in Ghana;
- Ensure the implementation of the VCP in Ghana;
- Perform the planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the VCP;
- Manage the portfolio of partners involved in the implementation of the VCP and related special projects in Ghana;
- Actively support the development of new project initiatives in collaboration with the program teams in Canada and the Ghana Office team;
- Ensure the management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the VCP portfolio and related special projects of Crossroads in Ghana, in accordance with the protocols signed between Crossroads and the implementing partners;
- Coordinate and produce all planning documents as well as reports of the VCP and related special projects, in collaboration with the Ghana Office team, volunteers and local partners;
- Ensure the sound management of human, material and financial resources of the VCP and related special projects;
- Ensure compliance with the Crossroads procedures manual during the implementation of the VCP and related special projects (standards and procedures) in collaboration with the VCP Impact team and the administration and finance department in Canada;
- Monitor timesheets and the management of all those involved in the program execution of the VCP in Ghana and related special projects, including volunteers, national consultants and local partners;
- Plan, support and coordinate missions of the Crossroads teams in Ghana;
- Continually analyse the evolution of the context in Ghana to effectively feed the development process of Crossroads’ program in Ghana;
- Effectively support the development of Crossroads International’s programming in Ghana in close collaboration with the program teams in Canada;
- Ensure the supervision of monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEAL) in all of Crossroads’ projects in Ghana in collaboration with the MEAL Officer in Canada and other members of the VCP Impact team;
- Ensure the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of projects and programs in Ghana; Contribute to the development of tools and systems for safety management, project monitoring and evaluation and the recruitment and management of volunteers in accordance with Crossroads’ standards and procedures; Contribute to the development and implementation of a communication and representation strategy for Crossroads in Ghana in coordination with the Regional Representative, West Africa and the Communication team in Canada;
- Contribute to the implementation of the Crossroads Institutional Funding Strategy in Ghana.
- Office Volunteer Management (15%)
- Effectively manage lead volunteers (Program Support Advisor, Volunteer Support Advisor) in accordance with Crossroads volunteer management policies and procedures;
- Organize and carry out annual evaluations;
- Plan, carry out and monitor the recruitment of volunteers for Ghana;
- Ensure effective monitoring of the work of volunteers in Ghana;
- Ensure the establishment of a culture of partnership between Canadian volunteers and the staff of the Ghana Office;
- Foster the creation of spaces for exchange, collaboration and learning between volunteers and the Ghana Office team
- Administration and Finance (10%)
- Collaborate with the Regional Representative, West Africa and the Ghana Office Finance and Administration Officer on the annual budgeting process for Ghana;
- Ensure the strict application of the safety and security manual of the Crossroads Ghana Office;
- Contribute to the establishment and continuous improvement of Crossroads’ procedures and processes for Ghana;
- Ensure the sound reconciliation of all special projects in Ghana in collaboration with the VCP Impact team and Finance department in Canada.
- Other (5%)
- Create synergies and promote the sharing of knowledge and practices between Crossroads VCP activities, other Crossroads projects and across Crossroads partners;
- Ensure the effective integration and monitoring of gender equality and environmental strategies within the VCP and special projects;
- Assume all other responsibilities inherent to the Ghana Office;
- Act as a programming development advisor for Crossroads in Ghana;
- Support Crossroads’ objectives within the framework of strategic and operational plans.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO CROSSROADS
- Postgraduate university education in a relevant field (international relations, project management, administration, etc.) or equivalent experience;
- Experience of at least 5 years in program or project management, including on projects or programs in a developing country, or as part of an international cooperation project;
- Ability to think and plan strategically and a proven ability to lead and inspire teams to do the same, and to develop project ideas;
- Proven experience in developing, managing and reviewing complex budgets from various funding sources and in accordance with all internal and external contractual obligations;
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex issues;
- Proficiency in technologies, including SharePoint, Microsoft Office suite and financial systems;
- Knowledge of Ghana and the context in relation to the rights of women and girls, in particular gender-based violence, leadership and economic empowerment;
- Experience in managing development projects funded by Global Affairs Canada (asset);
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French an asset);
- Willingness and ability to travel to countries in the region and occasionally to Canada.
