Job description

Our client, a tour & travel and logistics company, is seeking to hire an Accounting Associate to join their team. This role requires a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive individual to process financial transactions, identify errors, improve processes, and ensure financial clarity. The ideal candidate will prioritize accuracy, efficiency, and the resolution of financial discrepancies, leaving no detail unchecked or unresolved.

Key responsibilities:

 Financial Review & Error Detection

  • Thoroughly check, verify, and re-verify financial transactions for accuracy and justification.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations, supplier invoice checks, and internal financial reviews.
  • Ensure all financial transactions have complete and audit-ready supporting documentation.

 Critical Analysis & Problem-Solving

  • Analyze financial data for inconsistencies, missing details, and potential risks.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies while pushing for clarity and accuracy.
  • Identify and propose improvements to enhance financial workflows and efficiency.

 Proactive Financial Oversight & Goal-Driven Execution

  • Resolve challenges proactively, finding solutions for blocked or complex tasks.
  • Rigorously enforce financial controls and follow through on unresolved matters.
  • Persistently address missing documents, unresolved issues, and necessary corrections.

 Ownership, Responsibility & Tenacity

  • Take full accountability for work, recognizing the impact of financial mistakes.
  • Uphold financial integrity, refusing to settle for unresolved or incorrect figures.
  • Commit to achieving accurate results, no matter how complex the issue.

 Collaboration & Assertive Communication

  • Collaborate with operations, reservations, and management to ensure accurate financial data.
  • Seek necessary clarifications and push for corrections when required.
  • Confidently challenge assumptions and demand accurate information to maintain financial accuracy.

 Compliance & Documentation Management

  • Adhere to internal accounting policies, tax regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain precise and accessible documentation for all transactions.
  • Support audits and financial reporting by ensuring all financial data is accurate and properly documented.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ of experience in the accounting field.
  • Experience in financial auditing, reconciliations, or forensic accounting is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with accounting software, Excel, and financial reporting tools.
  • Industry experience in tourism, hospitality, or service businesses
  • Residents based in Mombasa are encouraged to apply
