Project Hope seeks a Finance Assistant to support the Finance Department in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and donor regulations. This role is crucial in assisting with day-to-day financial operations to ensure the smooth functioning of Project HOPE’s programs in Ghana.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in maintaining up-to-date financial records by accurately entering data into accounting systems and ensuring all transactions are properly documented.
- Process invoices, expense reports, and payment requests; ensure timely payments to vendors and reconciliation of accounts.
- Assist in reconciling bank statements monthly to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial records.
- Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements, for internal and external stakeholders.
- Aid in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, ensuring expenditures align with budgetary constraints and reporting any variances.
- Ensure all financial practices adhere to Project HOPE’s policies, donor requirements, and local regulations; assist during audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Provide general administrative assistance to the finance department, including filing, data management, and correspondence.
- Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably assigned by the Finance and Grant Manager.
MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BSc in Accounting, Finance, or similar field.
- Minimum of 1 – 3 years’ experience in the administrative and financial management of programs
- Experience working for or with a non-profit, donor, or government of Ghana preferred.
- Strong understanding of USAID funding preferred.
- Skilled in Excel and experience working with computerized accounting systems (e.g. QuickBooks).
- Ability to communicate in English, both written and oral.
