Key accountabilities and decision ownership 

Business Continuity Management

  • Deliver effective BCCM planning to ensure operational resilience by preparing for, responding to and recovering from business disruptions.
  • Develop and maintain an accurate, fit-for- purpose Business Continuity Management System including Business Impact Assessments (BIA’s) and Business Recovery Plans (BRP’s) which reflect the needs and requirements of the business
  • Develop and manage a Business Recovery Centre, a primary and alternative CMT Incident room (online incident room) including facilities to communicate and coordinate business activities.
  • Responsible for the regular review of the Telecel Ghana Crisis Management Action Plan. Test BCCM plans and conduct simulation exercise for operational effectiveness.
  • Act as the Telecel Ghana CMT Coordinator and ensure robust and timely response to all crisis within the business.
  • In the event of crisis, coordinate the convening of the Crisis Management Team and provide support for the successfully management of crisis situations.
  • Develop and maintain fit for purpose Crisis Management Action Plan (CMAP) with clearly outlined roles and responsibilities of the crisis team.
  • Support Telecel Mobile Financial Services to maintain license and adhere to ISO 27001(ISMS) to ensure has zero or no conformity audit findings

Enterprise risk management

  • Effectively and transparently manage Enterprise Risk within Telecel Ghana
  • Develop and implement Telecel Ghana’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and demonstrate value-addition by leading in mitigating the key risks identified.
  • Embed the Risk Management framework in business processes and culture
  • Chair and ensure the effective operation of the Vodafone Ghana Risk Steering Group.
  • Ensure adequate stakeholder engagement which facilitates and supports the risk management process.

Due Diligence

  • Responsible for conducting due diligence on all suppliers, business partners and potential customers of Telecel Ghana.
  • Ensure compliance, credit worthiness and any other risk exposures of third parties are mitigated.
  • Provide AML/CFT advisory to the business units

Governance and Reporting

  • Analyse metrics and writing reports to drive critical business decisions
  • Preparation of Business Risk and Continuity reports for the attention of all stakeholders
  • Monitor deliverables of projects and, where necessary and with the help of the project teams and external parties, conduct tests to determine the effectiveness of the implemented controls.

People Management & Leadership

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Business Risk and Continuity Team and an effective people/ manager relationship.
  • Be an active member of the External Affairs and Legal Leadership Team and contribute to strategic projects and discussions.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience 

  • Experience and formal training in Business Continuity and Crisis Management
  • Excellent Strategic, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience and training in Enterprise Risk methodology
  • Previous Security and Risk experience in the Telecommunication Industry
  • Ability to collaborate with others to develop effective business continuity plans
  • Excellent writing and oral skills
  • Relevant degree or its equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Must have technical / professional qualifications

  • Knowledge in Management of crisis, risk and business continuity
  • Understand financial statements/budgets
  • Relevant degree or its equivalence in operations management, business administration or related field
  • Previous Security and Risk experience in the telecommunications industry
  • Ability to manage teams to deliver on KPIs
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Ability to develop policies and drive implementation to meet changing business needs
