Job description

Clinical Pediatric Care
•    Provide comprehensive healthcare for children from infancy through adolescence.
•    Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions, including respiratory infections, malnutrition, and infectious diseases.
•    Respond to pediatric emergencies, including neonatal resuscitation and acute illness management.

Developmental Monitoring
•    Assess and monitor the physical, emotional, and developmental milestones of children.
•    Provide early detection and intervention for developmental delays, learning difficulties, and behavioral issues.

Parental Education and Support
•    Offer guidance to parents and caregivers on child nutrition, growth, hygiene, and preventive care.
•    Provide emotional support and counseling to families dealing with chronic illnesses or disabilities in children.

Collaborative Care
•    Work closely with other healthcare providers, including nutritionists, psychologists, and social workers, to deliver holistic care for children.
•    Participate in public health initiatives aimed at improving child health outcomes in the community.

Documentation and Reporting
•    Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including growth charts, vaccination histories, and treatment plans.
•    Submit regular reports on pediatric health outcomes to support planning and initiatives.
Training and Mentorship:
•    Guide and mentor junior doctors, medical interns, and surgical residents.
•    Provide continuing education and training for staff to maintain high standards of surgical care.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
•    Adhere to established treatment protocols, infection control standards, and patient safety guidelines.
•    Participate in quality improvement initiatives and hospital audits to enhance surgical services.

Minimum Qualification required:

  • Medical degree from a recognized institution and board certification in Pediatrics or relevant specialty.
  • Licensed to practice by the Medical Council of South Sudan or similar regulatory authority.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in pediatric care from recognized hospitals.
  • Strong ability to build rapport with children and families, demonstrating compassion and patience.
  • Expertise in diagnosing and managing pediatric illnesses, including chronic and complex conditions.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure.
  • Experience in working with NGOS in a fragile context is preferred.
  • Personnel management and motivation expertise and experience.
  • Excellent work experience in training facilitation and mentoring government staff.
  • Demonstrated application of Do No Harm, including understanding of intended and unintended consequences of gender equality and social inclusion interventions, and risk mitigation approaches.
  • Understands and is committed to WV’s vision, mission and core values.
  • Fluency in English language, Arabic and the local languages is an added advantage
