Inside Daily Insights: Undue Attention

” Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
1 John 2:15-17

A few years ago, I raised a discussion on the subject of offensive dressing amongst believers. The debate attracted hundreds and amongst them ministers of the gospel, since the debate was on social media I discovered it’s a subject many people (men in particular) were very concerned about but didn’t have room in their assemblies to raise. We should understand that in the house of God, we live as a family, and we are to receive instruction, correction, and, at times, rebuke even though the latter is not pleasant. Our walk on the earth should reveal God and should help others believe the gospel. We should also remember that we are spirit beings but still in our physical bodies and that we live amongst natural man who are governed by the senses ,we should therefore be careful lest we cause others to stumble by our freedom.

As a man, it is wrong to dress, talk, or act like a woman. It is also wrong to dress, talk, and act in a way that makes women lured or to lust after you. A woman also should conduct herself as a woman and not dress, talk or act as a man neither should she conduct herself in a way that lures men or cause them to lust after her. According to the bible, there is a reference to Jezebel (a demonic personality which lures people into immorality), and we must guard ourselves against it. The Christian walk is not a set of rules and regulations, one may even argue about this admonition for his or her carnal appetite but if you will ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in that direction, he will. The Bible admonishes us to live a quiet life. In our day of social media, some folks attract undue attention to themselves due to their conduct. If you are a married man or woman, this is going to affect your marriage. If you are not married, it may still affect your relationship and whether you will marry or not. I suppose if we ministers in the Church ignore these issues and not address them, we will do harm.

Let your light shine before men to the end that they glorify God. Ladies in particular, before you stand before the brethren, be sure you are leading the saints to worship God and not yourself. Then there are those whose gender is not clear to others, Don’t let people question your gender. You are either a man or woman. You can’t be both,or else you need healing or a devil cast out. Homosexuality should not be named amongst the brethren. If, however, you are struggling with such a sin , approach a minister and receive help but be the first to reject it.
