Inside ROR Today: Christ-The Seed Abraham & David

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, and to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ (Galatians 3:16).

God’s Word is remarkably precise when it comes to prophecy. The promise made to Abraham was not a general promise to many descendants but a specific promise concerning one seed. In Genesis 22:17-18, God said to Abraham, “…in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed….”

Notice how God repeatedly used the singular form “seed” and not “seeds.” The Apostle Paul clarifies this in Galatians 3:16, stating that this singular “seed” refers to Christ, emphasizing the accuracy of God’s Word and the fulfilment of His promise: “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.” Through Jesus Christ, the nations of the earth have indeed been blessed with salvation, healing, and eternal life.

Furthermore, certain prophecies also reveal that the Messiah would be a descendant of David. Jeremiah 23:5 says, “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.” This prophetic word speaks of a righteous King from the lineage of David who would reign and establish justice in the earth.

Isaiah previously gave a similar prophecy with even more details when he prophesied by the Spirit, “And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD…” (Isaiah 11:1-3). Also, 2 Timothy 2:8 says, “Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel.”
These prophecies describe the nature and character of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. He’s indeed the fulfilment of the promises made to Abraham and to David the son of Jesse. He’s the Seed and the Righteous Branch who has come to establish God’s Kingdom. Blessed be His Name forever!

Prayer / Confession

Dear Father, thank you for the fulfilment of your Word concerning the Lord Jesus Christ. He’s the Seed of Abraham, the Righteous Branch from the lineage of David who reigns in righteousness and truth. In Him, the nations of the earth are blessed, and His Kingdom is established forever. I live in the reality of His reign and proclaim His Lordship over all the earth today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.st
