Kenya Forest Service is a corporate body established under the Forest Conservation and Management Act no 34 of 2016 (henceforth referred to as the Act). The Act which was operationalized on 31st March 2017, gave the Service’s mandate as “to provide for the development and sustainable management, including conservation and rational utilization of all forest resources for the socioeconomic development of the country and for connected purposes”.
Entry Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in Wood Science Technology/Industrial Processes or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
- Professional Qualification & Membership where applicable
- Supervisory course from a recognized institution
- Proficiency in Computer applications
- Fulfil the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution

An officer at this level shall report to a senior officer
Duties and Responsibilities
- Adopt and adapt wood technical and commercial best practice benchmarks;
- Establish business processes to drive regular activities, enhance accountability, and maximize safety; establish routines for attaining work targets, including key result areas; oversee launch of new wood product technologies and products;
- Review planning for rehabilitation, operations and maintenance of saw mills;
- Oversee annual treatment of plants.
- Make records to support the management process.
- Initiate saw milling process for specific tasks, as instructed.
- Undertake wood treatment.
- Keep an inventory of equipment and facilities.
- Identify new wood technologies.
- Promote Public values and principles
- Mentoring and coaching
