Job description

Job Purpose:
The position holder will be responsible providing laboratory support for immunology and HIV1 sequencing projects, including sample handling, immunological assays, molecular biology,
Oxford Nanopore sequencing, and basic bioinformatics, in compliance with GCLP standards.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Principal duties;
• To Receive, process, store, and ship samples according to SOPs and IATA standards;
• Perform laboratory experiments, maintain equipment, and ensure GCLP compliance;
• Maintain inventory, clean laboratory spaces, and ensure health and safety procedures;
• Document experiments, manage data, and support analysis and reporting;
• Contribute to SOP development and quality assurance logs;
• Mentor interns/students and coordinate with project teams;
• Conduct immunological assays: Flow cytometry, ELISA, Luminex, Neutralization, ADCC;
• Support tissue culture, animal tissue processing, and related experimental workflows;
• Conduct safety inductions and maintain first aid and MSDS updates;
• Perform nucleic acid extraction, Single Genome Amplification (SGA), and ONT
sequencing.
• Implement basic bioinformatics pipelines and reconstruct HIV-1 genomes; and,
• Assist in developing and optimizing molecular and sequencing protocols;

Line Management;
• Reporting directly to the Lead Investigator overseeing the project.
• Coordinating with other team members and departments to ensure seamless integration
of laboratory activities within the broader research framework

Person Specification
• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical laboratory technology, Biomedical Sciences, or related
field;
• Allied Health Professionals License is desirable;
• Should possess 1 year laboratory experience in immunology or molecular biology;
• Hands-on experience with immuno-assays, tissue culture, nucleic acid extraction, SGA,
or ONT sequencing;
• Experience of bioinformatics analysis;
• Should possess knowledge of GCP/GCLP;
• Knowledge of safety regulations;
• Independent assay development & troubleshooting of new procedures;
• Should possess knowledge of laboratory molecular diagnostic and genomics skills;
• Ability to work independently with high attention to detail;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
• Good organizational skills; and,
• Time management and Computer literacy.
