Job description

Kenya Forest Service is a corporate body established under the Forest Conservation and Management Act no 34 of 2016 (henceforth referred to as the Act). The Act which was operationalized on 31st March 2017, gave the Service’s mandate as “to provide for the development and sustainable management, including conservation and rational utilization of all forest resources for the socioeconomic development of the country and for connected purposes”.

Entry Requirements :

  • Diploma in Communication, Public Relations or Journalism from a recognized institution.
  • Knowledge in environmental matters as added advantage
  • Proficiency in Computer applications
  • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

Skills and Attributes

  • Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili
  • Proficiency in IT
  • Understand latest trends in Communication.
  • Very good communication skills.
  • Team player
  • Good inter-personal skills.

An officer at this level will report to a Senior officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organizing and participating in exhibitions, open days and other corporate events.
  • Distribution of IEC material during events.
  • Collecting feedback and responding to stakeholder inquiries.
  • Managing departmental store.
  • Generate articles for publications and website.
  • Take and edit photographs for use in publications, IEC material, social media platforms and website.
  • Assist in event planning and execution.
  • Initiate design of various publications and IEC material.
  • Update website and social media with latest articles and photographs.
  • Propose concepts and advice for implementation purposes.
  • Media monitoring of print media.
  • Generate distribution charts for publications and IEC material.
  • Providing basic communication information to internal publics.
  • Maintaining register for communication equipment.
  • Ensuring timely distribution of the quarterly magazine to stakeholders.
  • Mentoring and coaching
  • Promote public values and principles
