Tasks and responsibilities
Direct Patient Care:
- Assessment and Monitoring: regularly assessing patients’ conditions, vital signs, and symptoms, documenting observations and changes.
- Medication Administration: Administering medications as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and side effects.
- Wound Care: Performing wound care, including cleaning, dressing, and monitoring for signs of infection.
- Specimen Collection: Collecting blood, urine, and other samples for laboratory testing.
- Assistance with Procedures: Assisting doctors and other healthcare professionals during medical procedures.
- Maintaining a Safe Environment: Ensuring the patient’s environment is safe and conducive to healing.
Collaboration and Education:
· Care Planning: Participating in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
· Patient and Family Education: Providing education to patients and their families about their conditions, treatments, and self-care.
· Participate in healthcare outreach activities organised by ROTOM Health centres and provide nursing expertise as required.
· Support management team to develop work plans, proposals and coordinate health activities for the development of the health centre.
Communication:
· Effectively communicating with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
· Collaboration: Working collaboratively with doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
Others
· Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
· Professional Development: Participating in continuing education and professional development activities.
Person Specification
Essential skills and qualifications
· Certificate in Nursing with at least two years of experience in employment and clinical practice.
· Must hold a valid Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) practicing licence.
Desirable skills
· Knowledgeable with skills of evidence-based practice in contemporary Nursing and the multidisciplinary Healthcare modal.
· Demonstrable skills in frailty and care for the elderly patient.
· Technical problem-solving ability with keen attention to the health needs facing elderly persons.
· Basic computer skills and good experience with the use of computerised healthcare management system.

· Aged between 20 to 45 years.
