Turaco is a micro-insurtech company changing healthcare financing in emerging markets. We provide simple, affordable health and life insurance to low-income earners, distributing our products through partnerships with leading businesses in Kenya and Uganda. Our mission is to act as a safety net, freeing people from the fear of health-related financial shocks

Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Generate leads that will in the future result in new partnerships. This includes holding introductory pitches and bringing key Turaco and potential partner team members together.

Partner Relationship Management

  • Develop high-value partner relationships at the country level, leveraging the commercial team’s knowledge of each partner.
  • Demonstrate to partners, market expertise and a deep understanding of a partner’s operations and end-users to build confidence in our recommendations on products and solutions.
  • Responsible for the 2-way partner-Turaco communication needs in the country. This includes managing correspondence with key decision-makers of our partners.
  • Be ceaselessly client-facing. Proactively check in on partners and anticipate their needs, spending significant time at the partner sites.
  • Proactively identify business opportunities that will grow/expand existing partnerships.
  • Develop and implement effective account management strategies that over time result in renewed/return business.
  • Responsible for successful partnership launches. This includes translating plans into action and coordinating all teams involved in the launch.
  • Identify and escalate customer pain points and journey improvement opportunities to the Marketing, Customer Experience, and Customer Operations teams.

Country Operations

  • The main point of contact for our partners, underwriters, regulators, and industry groups.
  • Lead market intelligence in the country, keeping the whole division informed on new entrants, competition, legislation changes, and compliance hurdles.
  • Staying on top of our account receivables ensuring all partner invoices are paid up on time and delays are carefully managed.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Live Turaco’s values – care and protect, do the right thing, low ego, and have fun!
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in any business-related field.
  • 4 to 6 years experience in managing multisector, high-value B2B partnerships, built on a strong relationship management capability.
  • A background in the insurance industry is a plus.
  • A highly collaborative team leader who can champion culture and has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire.
  • Ability to communicate, present, and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization
