Duties and responsibilities
• Sensitize and mobilize communities to participate in project activities
• Work with community and traditional leaders to identify beneficiaries
• Develop and implement quarterly activity plans for agricultural and livelihood recovery
activities as defined in the project document
• Compile monthly and quarterly project progress reports
• Lead the development of training materials in collaboration with local MINADER an MINEPIA
staff
• Provide expertise in climate-smart and Nutrition-sensitive agriculture as well as post-harvest
management strategies for selected crops and livestock
• Identify needs and conduct procurement of crop, and livestock production inputs in
compliance with Nascent and USAID regulations
• Support the procurement of cassava mills
Ensure proper handling, distribution and use of inputs, including training on the use of cassava mills
• Coordinate all agricultural and livestock activities,
• Facilitate regular visits to beneficiaries to provide technical assistance and ensure proper
implementation
• Work with M&E specialist to create and implement a data collection system
• Document project success with photos/videos and at least two success stories quarter
• Participate in the development of annual work plans and donor reports
• Identify new business opportunities in the sector and draft concept notes
• Perform other duties as appropriate
Education and Experience:
• A higher national diploma in agronomy from an accredited institution
• At least 3 years’ experience working with community-based groups in the use of climatesmart and nutrition-sensitive agriculture
• Knowledge of post-harvest management
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills
• Demonstrated expertise in training people in small agriculture & livestock techniques
• Mastery of the terrain and context in the South West region, especially in Ndian Division
• Ability to travel at least 70% of the time
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to develop good working relationships with stakeholders
• Ability to work under challenging circumstances
• Knowledge Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of the local languages will be an added advantage
• Demonstrated fluency in English
• willingness to live in the communities in Ndian Division and under challenging conditions
