Job description

Vacancies exist for 2x Analyst Information Systems, reporting to the Specialist Information Systems. The primary purpose is to provide on-site support for all business systems for RUL.This role will be responsible for the, maintaining and troubleshooting of application systems, as well implementing new systems and processes. The Analyst Information Systems will review and provide recommendations on requests for new systems.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Actively participates in creating a healthy and safe working environment, i.e., by participating in safety meetings, safety talks, safety interactions, and safety inspections.
  • Drive the successful implementation of improvement initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for implemented systems, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments or upgrades.
  • Provide users with 2nd level support of RUL systems/applications.
  • Create intelligent reports for Management and relevant stakeholders as required, while determining the scope and relevant data sources.
  • Check system logs, databases, and Operating System-related problems, maintain users, and assist with setting up client software.
  • Assist with project implementations of new systems or applications, including integration or development.
  • Monitor expenditure monthly and review it on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintain SQL server databases, including the reviewing of backups, scheduled jobs, indexing, and user access.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to collect and document various business needs and transform them into detailed technical requirements.
  • Provide input into related operational and capital expenditures, including the creation of Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) and Capital Expenditure Approvals (CEAs).
  • Review costs and follow up on any variances or overspending.
  • Provide input into the rolling forecast on operational expenses.
  • Optimize processes and lead process improvement initiatives.

Requirements and experience:

  • Grade 12 with Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology or Equivalent Degree/Diploma.
  • Bachelor’s degree: A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in programming language or software development.
  • National Diploma: Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in programming language or software development.
  • Additional experience in project management will be an added advantage.
  • Microsoft Certified and SAP Certification will be an advantage.
  • A valid Code B driver’s licence.
