Job description

Key Responsibilities.

  1. Sell poultry feed, veterinary drugs, and vaccines to customers, providing accurate information on product usage, dosage, and safety precaution.
  2. Diagnose livestock issues based on symptoms described and presented by farmers. Prescribe treatments and preventive measures in compliance with veterinary standards and advising farmers on disease control, vaccination schedules, and best practices for livestock management.
  3. Record all relevant farmer and livestock data while, working closely with extension officers to share farmer data for follow-up and support by field staff.
  4. Stay updated on disease outbreaks and communicate timely alerts and management strategies to farmers.
  5. Oversee company assets and the shop’s inventory, including ordering, receiving, storing, and outgoing stock.
  6. Gather information on farmer preferences, and product wishlists to inform decision making
  7. Develop innovative sales strategies to increase revenue and strengthen customer relationships.
  8. Prepare regular reports on sales, stock levels, customer feedback, and any relevant issues encountered.
  9. Ensure a tidy and well-organized display of products at the outlets meeting the standards of NDA requirements.
  10. Provide farmers with expert advice on health and nutrition options for poultry and other livestock recommending best practices for improving productivity.
  11. Collaborate with the Omia Foods team to market and facilitate the sale of farmers’ produce, including eggs, chicken, goats, and other livestock products ensuring access profitable markets for their produce.
  12.   Collaborate with local stakeholders to promote sustainable farming solutions.
  13. And any other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Animal Production, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in animal health, livestock management, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of livestock diseases, treatment options, and nutrition.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and engage with farmers effectively.
  • Experience in sales and marketing of veterinary products is an added advantage.
  • A UBV certificate is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in spoken Madi is required.
