Purpose of this Position:
Under the direct supervision of the Chef, the Assistant Chef shall support the kitchen operations in his/her functions detailed below and shall deputize for the Chef in his/her absence.
This position ensures that the chef is assisted in the preparation of food, beverages, and cooking meals in accordance with menus; and service of the same. Ensure the washing of dishes and kitchen utensils; and, support the general cleaning duties related activities as directed by the Chef.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the chef in the preparation and cooking of a variety of foods;
- Prepares and cooks food to the highest standards;
- Ensures that all food items prepared and served are according to established standards and practices.
- Ensure safe Health and Safety practices by:
– reporting of all equipment not working properly;
– observe all hygiene regulations;
– ensure that food is correctly stored;
- Ensure that all utensils are clean and in readiness for use;
- Serve meal to staff and guest.
- Assist in the preparation of store releases and purchase requisition
- Assist in the acquisition of food stuff in the local markets
- Account for cash advances given to them and kitchen staff under their delegation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
