Minimum QualificationApplicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering; or Power Engineering; or Power Systems Engineering plus a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering; or Power Engineering; or Power Systems Engineering; or Power Economics and Management; or Renewable Energy from a recognized University /Institution. Applicants should be registered with the Engineers’ Registration Board (ERB)Working ExperienceApplicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Principal Energy Officer or equivalent level of relevant experience in Government or from a reputable organization.Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Commissioner, Rural Electrification for performing the following duties:-
– Developing Regulations and Guidelines for Rural Electrification;
– Designing Rural Electrification Strategy and Plan;
– Reviewing Rural Electrification projects and studies so as to determine feasibility, and submit the Project Proposals for approval;
– Developing work plans and budgets for the Division;
– Reviewing and approving project designs for compliance to Regulations and Standards;
– Overseeing maintenance of an updated database of Rural Electrification investments;
– Undertaking capacity building and performance management of staff in the Division;
– Coordinating compliance with environment and social safeguards during design of projects;
– Preparing reports as required from time to time;
– Collaborating with key stakeholders in planning and preparation of projects;
– Conducting technical monitoring of Rural Electrification initiatives and projects.
– Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
