Job description

  • We are looking for a highly motivated Assistant Procurement Manager to join our team at Adeola Odeoku, Victoria Island.
  • This role is pivotal to our procurement operations and will play a significant part in our ongoing success.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with both existing and new suppliers.
  • Act as the intermediary between the organization and suppliers, comparing proposals for price and specifications.
  • Secure products and services at the most favorable prices without compromising on quality or service.
  • Review, negotiate, and approve contracts, while overseeing the quality of service and products.
  • Ensure efficient tracking of all ordered products, both physically and in internal systems, following the best due process.
  • Pay keen attention to detail.
  • Continuously identify significant procurement opportunities that enhance profitability.
  • Collaborate in the procurement of goods and services, ensuring both cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Work with the procurement team to manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Keep procurement records and databases updated.
  • Assist in the selection and evaluation of suppliers.
  • Coordinate with various departments to meet their procurement requirements.
  • Assist in negotiating favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best procurement practices.
  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring alignment with agreed KPIs, contractual obligations, and SLAs, and liaise with the Accounting department to ensure accurate payment processes.
  • Provide benchmarking data and analysis to achieve cost savings and validate supplier performance.
  • Utilize and manage reporting and monitoring mechanisms that clearly highlight cost savings achieved by category/supplier.
  • Develop and manage appropriate reporting and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Create plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies.
  • Enforce the company’s procurement policies and procedures.
  • Review, compare, analyze, and approve products and services for purchase.
  • Manage inventories and maintain accurate purchase and pricing records.

Qualifications, Competency & Skills Required:

  • HND / OND in Business Administration / Purchasing & Supply / Accounting / Economics, Logistics, or related field.
  • A minimum of two years of prior procurement experience.
  • Age between 29 and 35 years.
  • Female candidates are preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Proficiency with financial, procurement, and inventory management software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Peachtree, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in Internet, email, and Google applications.
  • Strong numerical and writing skills.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Deep knowledge of contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
