Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Expert technical support to the FARM global child project, as well as regional child projects, and successful project management of the FARM global child project execution.
- Engage stakeholders and co-finance partners to bring in external knowledge into the FARM programme and support replication of FARM results globally;
- Lead a standard approach to Monitoring and Evaluation including developing rigorous approaches to measuring and attributing Global Environmental Benefits across different focal areas and leading development and tracking of Programmatic Indicators across all FARM child projects
- Collate information from across the Child Projects, for GEF and the GEF FARM Programme Coordinating Group
- Draft new project concepts and proposals under the FARM+ programme to include logical frame- works, theory of change, and output-based work plans.
- Data mining of existing country data to assist in the development of baseline situation analysis to inform project design and proposed mitigation / development strategies.
- Draw the linkages between the proposed project/intervention with the SGD target indicators, UNEP Programme of Work indicators, and GEF results framework indicators.
- Review and provide input on draft project proposals prepared by offices that contribute to the programme with a view to ensuring consistency with the programme manual and Project Review Committee checklist, and to improve project design quality prior to project submission for approval.
- Facilitate lesson learnings and knowledge management across the child projects and coordinate communication with international external stakeholders;
- Coordinate thematic working groups engaging focal points in knowledge management, communications, stakeholder engagement, and gender, and;
- Coordinate technical working groups across GEF FARM and FARM+ on knowledge generation and application topics identified during the implementation stage.

Requirements
Required experience
- 15 years of experience in the field of environmental management of agrochemicals and agricultural plastics, related wastes, and other agriculture, food systems, and value chains related fields required. experience in Environmental Management, sustainable agriculture and food systems, agricultural plastic related field.
- Capacity to gather, analyze and synthesise data and generate relevant information (asset).
- Prior experience working with international organizations (desirable)
- Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
- Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, among others), email, and internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
- Desirable: valid national driver’s license and proven ability to drive manual gear 4×4 over rough terrain;
- Sound security awareness;
- Have affinity with or interest in UNEP’s mandate, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN system.
