Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Business Development Strategy
- Develop and implement a country-level business development strategy aligned with ForAfrika Uganda’s strategic plan.
- Lead the development of annual revenue targets and a fundraising pipeline.
- Monitor donor trends, analyze funding landscapes, and identify opportunities from institutional
donors, foundations, private sector partners, and philanthropies. • Collaborate with country, regional, and global BD teams to ensure coordinated and strategic fundraising efforts.
2. Donor Engagement & Stakeholder Management
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with bilateral and multilateral donors, private sector actors, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Represent ForAfrika Uganda in external donor meetings, networking events, and forums to enhance visibility and positioning.
- Support partner mapping and outreach to identify potential collaborators and consortia for joint funding opportunities.
- Maintain up-to-date intelligence on donor priorities and pipeline opportunities.
3. Proposal Development & Coordination
- Lead and coordinate the end-to-end proposal development process, including drafting concept notes, technical proposals, and budgets.
- Ensure proposals align with donor guidelines, compliance requirements, and ForAfrika’s technical and financial standards.
- Convene and manage cross-functional proposal teams to gather technical input and ensure quality submissions.
- Manage timelines, ensure timely reviews, and submit competitive funding proposals to institutional and non-traditional donors.
4. Knowledge Management & Continuous Improvement
- Document lessons learned, feedback, and donor communications to improve future proposal efforts.
- Contribute to and maintain a repository of up-to-date capability statements, donor profiles, CVs, and past performance references.
- Facilitate internal debriefs and design sessions to strengthen institutional learning.
- Participate in regular BD team meetings and knowledge exchange activities across the organization.

Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience, in business development/proposal development within the international development sector.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and donor platforms such as Grants.gov, EU Funding & Tenders Portal, and UN Partner Portals.
- Proven track record of securing multi-million-dollar funding from institutional donors.
- Strong networking and relationship management skills, with experience engaging donors and partners.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop persuasive funding proposals.
- Strategic thinker with a results-driven approach to business development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and proposal tracking systems.
- Must be a Ugandan citizen or possess a valid work permit for Uganda.
