To define the Business Intelligence strategy aligned to Group strategy and ensure implementation thereof; ensure BI best practice and governance standards are defined, implemented, and adhered to; understand the macro environment and provide relevant insights for strategic decisioning; and to provide guidance, mentor a team and create value added knowledge for business and business informed decisions.
- Develop the Business Intelligence strategy aligned to Group strategy and ensure execution of strategy and plans by team.
- Ensure processes and systems are aligned to Group platform strategy and requirements.
- Drive business profitability in the context of cost management through effective delivery of Business Intelligence solutions (time management and cost).
- Identify and define medium-term improvements and ensure implementation thereof.
- Ensure ongoing efficiencies driven by a culture of sharing “build once and build for all” as well as leveraging tools built by other D&A teams via consumption or enhancements prior to new builds on D&A outcomes.
- Provide oversight and guidance to team on data extraction from various sources for the purposes of data profiling in order to create the technical BI requirements (e.g., source to target).
- Approve and sign off on BI business requirement (BRS) documentation.
- Provide business summaries to enable more effective strategic insights and decision-making at Exco level.
- Ensure fit-for-purpose dashboards and monitor usage thereof.
- Analyse derived information to create value added knowledge of the bank’s products, channels, service levels, trends, or customers for business and operational informed decisions; as well as provide guidance and mentor team.
- Provide guidance and mentor team on development of business intelligence models based on data analyzed, data collected, reviewed, and incorporate all internal and external benchmarking data for future solutions.
- Analyse information to identify trends, discrepancies and inconsistencies for decision making purposes.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to provide input into assigned projects, in line with business requirements within the required timeframe and specification.
- Involvement in new projects, design, review and approve Business Intelligence documents/ solutions in line with business requirements.
- Provide oversight in the solution life cycle, which includes, prioritizing, designing, testing, implementing and validating the overall solution and ensure that the proposed benefits are realized.
- Set the intellectual agenda for the team (in consultation with the necessary stakeholders) and creating conceptual frameworks across multiple projects.
- Manage team’s creation of project outputs e.g. documents or presentations to stakeholders that are insightful and actionable.
- Source, build and manage partnerships with external experts / providers to assist in delivery on key BI projects.
- Share knowledge and ideas into new or improved data product for the Business Intelligence environment
- Provide thought leadership and expertise in area of specialization.
- Maintain expert knowledge on industry best practice and innovative solutions and challenge current designs to make a relevant difference in business.
- Overall accountable for BI repository and maintenance thereof.
Requirements:
- Post Graduate degree would be beneficial
- 3 years minimum experience managing a team and at least 10 years in total within BI related roles
- Strong SQL and SAS is a must
- Strategic thinking and mindset is essential
