Qualifications:

Applicants should be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Veterinary Medicine and Chemistry, obtained from accredited institutions.

Duties

(a) Being in charge of Bacteriology, Chemistry/Toxicology, Virology, Helminthology or Protozoology Sections or the central Veterinary Laboratories of Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre;

(b) Supervising all technical staff and work done in the sections;

(c) Training Laboratory Assistants on various Laboratory skills;

(d) Managing Laboratory animals;

(e) Compilation of quarterly Animal reports;

(f) Ensuring timely and adequate supply of consumables in the Sections or Regional Laboratories;

(g) Preparing annual work plans and budgets for sections and Regional Laboratories;

(h) Ensuring that all Laboratory equipment in the sections are kept in good working condition,
preventing misuse of such equipment and that replacement of serviceable ones id done timely; and

(i) Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Note: Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews
that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
