Responsibilities

  • Provide overall technical and operational leadership and oversight to the project, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the project and reports to the PATH Country Director within the PATH Country Office.
  • Manage effective and efficient use of project resources to achieve the desired results of the project, ensuring that activities are performed to a high professional standard, effectively implemented, and fulfill USAID and PATH requirements.
  • Represent PATH and build and maintain excellent, productive relationships with PMI and USAID, project partners, ministries of health and other government stakeholders, and other relevant actors.
  • Serve as the project representative responsible for all issues, concerns, or problems and liaise with PMI and USAID personnel, including the AOR and their team, to support project implementation and respond to all questions, concerns, and comments.
  • Ensure timely and complete submission of all performance reports and responses to PMI and USAID requests for performance, success stories, and financial information.
  • Guide the learning agenda for the project, use lessons learned to modify project approaches and strategies, and disseminate findings.
  • Ensure compliance with all USAID, PATH, and project-specific policies.
  • Liaise across the PATH Malaria portfolio to ensure efficiencies in implementing this project.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in medicine, public health, social sciences, epidemiology, development, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience managing donor-funded projects related to infectious diseases, preferably malaria, collaborating closely with National Malaria Control Programs, and other government and civil society stakeholders in southern Africa.
  • In depth knowledge of malaria and the public health system in Zambia.
  • Demonstrated capacity to operate within the malaria international community and function as a leader on matters of malaria control and prevention.
  • Demonstrated management, leadership, mentorship, decision making, and interpersonal skills; experience leading geographically dispersed teams preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with senior government personnel, international organizations, NGO partners, host country governments, and U.S. government agencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. Government or international development organization policies and procedures as they relate to international development.
  • Full professional proficiency in English, with excellent oral and written communications skills required.
  • Available to travel nationally and internationally up to 25%.
