Are you a skilled anesthetist looking to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic healthcare setting? Veteran Mission Hospital in Syokimau, Nairobi, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Anesthetist Registered Clinical Officer to join our team and provide exceptional care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical and other medical procedures.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after anesthesia to ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to plan and implement anesthetic techniques and procedures.
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments to evaluate patient health and determine appropriate anesthesia plans.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including anesthesia administration and monitoring data.
  • Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide resuscitative care as needed.
  • Educate patients and their families about anesthesia procedures, risks, and post-operative care.
  • Participate in continuous  education and training to stay current with advancements in anesthetic techniques and practices.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards to ensure high-quality and safe patient care.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the anesthesia department.
  • Support and mentor junior staff and students as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.
  • Postgraduate training in Anesthesia.
  • Valid registration and licensure with the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an anesthetist, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia techniques, equipment, and pharmacology.
  • Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations and respond effectively to emergencies.
